Micro Art and Fiction

After reading the articles on micro art,I think it's pretty neat and different. My question is, is this just another step in the wrong direction, does this really signify that we rely on technology more than we should? I don't know and can't answer that for you, but I can give you my opinion. I think that a phone is a phone, its for communicating not playing games, drawing pictures or making music.I don't have internet on my cell phone or any apps, the only thing I do on my phone is make and receive calls, text, and take pictures. I'm not trying to come off as a negative Nelly, it's just not for me.

  1. Annmarie, I kind of agree with you about this, I to only have a regular phone, and have no knowledge of these applications but I think if they are out there and people are inspired enough to use them then that is great for them. I personaly do not have the funds for a fancy phone but if I did I am not sure I would stay away. Michelle

  2. Hi Annmarie,"you say" you believe a phone is for communication. Isn't taking a picture for a camera then? Or sending a text for a letter? Technology has enhanced people’s lives for the better I believe. Would you agree that an app such as these painting apps is a form of communication such as Expressive arts? Just something for you to ponder upon. Ps, I didn’t find you coming across as negative at all and I hope you don't take me as negative either :) it just your opinion and this is mine, we all have them and are entitled to them. Hope to hear back from you ~ John

  3. John~ yes I agree with about the texting and pictures, but I guess the rest of the stuff that people do on the phone started on the computer so to me its just to much to be carring around in my pocket.I guess you could say I'm a bit scared of what the future of technology brings. Yes technology has enhanced for the better and for that im glad. I'm just not sure we are focusing in the right areas if we focused a little more on life saving machines or things that would make people with disabilites lifes a little easier, and a little less on putting the internet or picture art on someones phone then maybe I would be little more excepting of all the technology to come. I think all this technology is making us a lazy society and our kids only learn the behaviors. They are missing out on all the fun we had growing up. No I dont think your being negative at all its an opinion and like you said everyone is entitled to them ;) Thank you for sharing yours

  5. A debate, yay! Great going you two and glad to see you duking it out :-) I was one of the late bloomers when it came to cell phones, mostly b/c of my age and geographic location (so. VT where there was no cell coverage). Once I bought a cell phone that worked and moved to FL, Oh Baby! My life changed with its use. I can be online with my phone which means I can catch student questions on the fly; I can take photos (which I do all the time both for art purposes and just for fun); I can crop/resize/alter the photos and send my photos thru email or post to Facebook from my phone, or Tweet, or listen to my audiobook, or music, or use the GPS to find my way to an obscure address, or make a note, log an address, and oh yes, make a phone call!! Wow, and this is all in a little slice of plastic storable in my pocket? Too cool for words.
